No-Drilling Extendable Under-Desk Cable Tray Review: Cables Off the Floor
A year and a half with the no-drilling, extendable, under-desk cable management tray from a new-desk bundle. Power strip and cables lifted off the floor, out of sight, no more kicking.
The no-drilling, extendable under-desk cable management tray on my desk is the reason my power strip and all the cables that come off it are off the floor, out of sight, and out of the way of my feet. I bought it when I bought a new desk, paired with a 12-outlet power strip, and it has held up for about a year and a half.
Grade: A—if you want your cables and power strip off the floor, out of sight, and not getting kicked.

The Amazon listing is sold by “BIWIST Direct.” I am not naming the brand in the verdict — the listing itself does not put a brand name on the product. I am not reviewing the smaller, plastic, adhesive-mounted, or screw-mounted variants that exist under similar names. If you are shopping, look at the listing you are buying from and confirm it matches.
Everything I say is about my own unit. I have not tested the current retail version against my older unit. If you buy one, evaluate it on its own listing.
Living with it
I bought the tray in January of 2025, alongside a 12-outlet power strip, when I bought a new desk. The whole point of the bundle was to get the cables off the floor.
Before this tray, my setup was a power strip with a UPS sitting on the floor under the desk, with all the cables running across the floor to my computers, monitors, speakers, and other gear. Every time I stretched my legs out under the desk, my feet would kick the cables or the power strip. I am pretty sure I have unplugged things with my feet before. Lifting the whole setup up off the floor and out of sight has been a real quality-of-life improvement.
Setting it up was easy. The clamp-on mounting meant I did not have to drill into the desk. Mounting the tray itself took five minutes or less. The slower part was positioning the power strip with the tray, plugging all the cables back in, and bundling them with the included Velcro ties so they would stay out of the way. The whole end-to-end job took maybe half an hour, but none of it was difficult — it was just plugging things in.
The tray is extendable and retractable. It can change size to fit different desk widths or to give me more or less room for cables. I set it once and have not changed it since.
The Velcro cable ties that came with the tray were helpful for bundling the cables that run from the power strip up to my computers and monitors. I had to buy extras to bundle the longer runs from the power strip to my speakers and other gear, but the included set was enough to get me started.
It just worked. It came with everything I needed to set it up. I did not have to run to the hardware store for a missing bracket or a different screw. The clamp tightened onto the underside of my desk, the tray held the power strip and the cables, and that was that.
What I like
- No drilling. Clamp-on mounting means no holes in the desk. That mattered to me because I do not want to put permanent holes in a piece of furniture.
- Off the floor, out of sight. My feet no longer kick cables or unplug things.
- Extendable and retractable. It adjusts to fit the desk and the cable load.
- Velcro cable ties included. Enough to bundle the most obvious cable runs.
- Easy install. Mounting the tray itself was five minutes or less. The whole end-to-end job with the power strip and cables was about half an hour.
- Holds a power strip. The whole point of the tray is to lift a power strip up off the floor and keep it there, and it does that.
- Year and a half of constant use, no complaints.
What annoys me
- It is sized for a power strip. If you have a particularly large or oddly shaped UPS, measure first.
- The included Velcro set was enough to get me started, but not enough to bundle everything. I had to buy more for the longer runs to my speakers and other gear.
- Clamp mounting means it works on certain desk thicknesses. If your desk is unusually thick or unusually thin, check the listing for the supported range.
- It is not invisible. The tray is under the desk, but it is still visible from low angles. If you want truly hidden cable management, you would need a different approach.
- I cannot prove it has not loosened over time without pulling the desk apart. I have not had to re-tighten the clamp yet, but it is worth checking periodically.
Who it is for, and who should skip it
If you have a power strip and cables on the floor and you want them up under the desk, out of sight, out of the way of your feet, this is the right tool. The clamp mount keeps it simple to install, and the extendable format fits different desk widths.
Skip it if your desk is too thick or too thin for the clamp range. Skip it if you do not want any hardware visible under the desk at all. Skip it if you are not ready to mount anything under your desk — this is not an adhesive-mounted strip and it is not a freestanding tray.
Verdict
A year and a half on my desk, cables and power strip lifted off the floor, no more kicking or unplugging, no drilling required. That is the review.

I am not measuring the tray dimensions, weight capacity, material composition, or clamp thickness range myself. The 31-inch length is per the listing, not my measurement. The “metal wire mesh” material descriptor is also per the listing, not my own identification — I can see the mesh in the photos, but I have not independently verified the alloy or finish. The “no drilling” framing is per the listing, and is consistent with my own experience: the clamp mounted without putting holes in my desk.
I had to buy extra Velcro ties beyond what was included, but I am not specifying how many extra I bought or how many were included. The transcript says “Velcro things” came with it, not a specific count.
This is a different product from the Anker 12-outlet power strip I reviewed separately. That strip is the strip that lives on this tray. The tray is what lifts the strip off the floor. Both reviews describe the same setup on my desk.
