SHARDEN 49-in-1 Precision Screwdriver Set Review: Always Has the Bit
SHARDEN precision screwdriver set, 49 bits, magnetic, small electronic work. The drawer tool I reach for once every couple of months — and it always has what I need.

I bought the SHARDEN precision screwdriver set about six months ago and I do not use it that often. When I do use it, it has whatever bit I need. That is the entire review, in two sentences.
What it is
The SHARDEN 49-in-1 is a small precision screwdriver set built around a single screwdriving handle and 49 interchangeable bits. The set covers Phillips (PH000 through PH2), slotted, Torx (T2 through T20), hex (0.7 mm through 4 mm), plus the awkward shapes that consumer-electronics screws actually use: pentalobe (for Apple devices), triwing (for Nintendo and some consoles), triangle, spanner bits, SIM-eject pin. Most of the listings in the same category offer 24 or 25 bits; SHARDEN ships 49 because they intend to cover all of the above in one box.
The bits live in a folding plastic case with labeled slots. The handle is a thin aluminum and plastic driver with a rotating cap, a bit holder at the front, and a magnetic chuck so the bits snap into place and stay there. The bit holder at the handle has a small rubberized collar — it fits standard 4 mm precision bit shanks, which means it is also compatible with the Wera, HOTO, Wowstick, and other aftermarket bits in the same shank size.
The whole set fits in a closed footprint roughly the size of a paperback book. It is light enough to leave in a drawer or toss in a laptop bag without thinking about it.
Why I bought it
I have a couple of electronics repair moments each year where I need a specific weird bit. A pentalobe to open an iPhone. A triwing for an old Nintendo. A small Torx T5 for a fan. Each of those moments, before I bought this set, ended in 30 minutes of Googling “what size Torx for this” and a trip to a hardware store that did not actually carry the size. I wanted one box that, when I pulled it out of the drawer, I knew would have whatever bit the project turned out to need.
49 bits is also the kind of number where the box can claim “we have everything” honestly — by 49 bits, you have one of everything. The set is sized to make the user not have to think.
Living with it
I keep the set in a drawer in my workbench. I pick it up, on average, every couple of months. When I do, the use is always the same — I need a specific weird bit, and I walk over to the drawer, open the case, find the bit, fit it into the handle, do the screw, put the bit back.
After six months of that, the set has earned its place. The screwdriver has not once asked me “did you mean a #00 Phillips or a #0 Phillips” because both are present, labeled, and visible. The plastic case is still on its original closure. The bits have not corroded. The handle’s magnetic chuck still picks up the bits cleanly. Nothing has fallen apart, and nothing has come up missing.
What I am most impressed by is the moment I had pulling apart an old laptop fan. I had the set open on my bench and needed a Torx T5. The bit was there. Then I needed a Phillips PH00 for a different screw in the same teardown. Also there. Then I needed a small spanner bit for one weird screw on the bottom of the chassis. Also there. That is the test for a kit like this: does it actually have everything you need? The answer here is yes, almost every time.
Real example: 3D printer maintenance
The use case I keep coming back to is my 3D printer. Bambu Lab and Ender printers both use a mix of standard screws (Phillips, hex) and odd shapes (some have proprietary screws for the Z-axis, some have Torx for the bed plate). When a print starts going badly, I usually want to do a quick calibration: belt tension, eccentric nut, maybe a Z-offset screw. That work needs a precision screwdriver.
The SHARDEN set lives by the printer during those sessions. The same drawer test applies — every small screw on the printer has the bit for it. Most of the time, the 1.5 mm hex or the PH2 is the one I need. When it is not, the case has the other bit.
What I like
- Always has the bit. Across six months of electronic-repair moments, I have not once opened the case and not found what I needed. 49 bits is enough for the consumer-electronics teardown universe.
- Magnetic bit retention. The chuck is magnetic; the bits snap into place and stay there even when I rotate the screwdriver. I have not lost a bit inside a chassis yet.
- The case stays closed. The plastic case has a positive latch. After months of opening and closing, it still holds. The bits stay in their slots. The labels are still legible.
- The really small heads. There are PH000, PH00, T2, 0.7 mm hex, and a few bits on the same scale. These are the bits you need for phones, glasses, watches, small consumer electronics, and they are not all present in the cheaper 24-bit kits.
- Four-mm shank is the standard. The handle works with any 4 mm precision bit from any other brand. If you have leftover Wera or HOTO bits, they work in this handle.
- Cheap. Under $10 list. There is no psychological bar to owning this thing. You do not have to think about whether to leave it in the car or in the garage.
- Wide envelope, narrow footprint. Covers phones, watches, glasses, laptops, game consoles, and small household electronics in one fold-out case.
- Plastic case is solid enough for daily use. I have dropped mine off the workbench once, and all 49 bits were still in their labeled slots.
What annoys me
- The labeling is tiny. When you need a specific bit in a hurry, the labels are printed on the case in small font. Reading them while wearing glasses at arm’s length works; reading them under workshop lighting at near distance is fine. Reading them under bedside-lamp lighting at the desk is annoying.
- No tri-point bit. “Triwing” is present, which is sometimes confused with the Nintendo tri-point Y-shape. They are different. The set does not appear to have all three Nintendo tri-point sizes.
- No really-long-reach bits. Most of the bits are short and stubby. Some chassis have deep wells with recessed screws. There are aftermarket 4 mm long-shaft bits, but the in-box set is short.
- The handle bit-chuck is not captive. When you swap bits, the small bit in the chuck will fall out if you tip the screwdriver down. The magnetic chuck helps a lot, but if you let go of the bit mid-swap, it slides out.
- No magnetizer in the box. Several competitors ship a small magnetizer/demagnetizer puck. The bits are magnetic by way of the chuck magnetism, not by being a magnetized bit on its own. For screws on a steel workbench this is fine; for picking tiny screws out of a fabric surface, you will wish the bits themselves were magnetized.
- No driver for the SIM-eject pin listed. Most modern phones use a SIM-eject tool; this set covers the bit side. If you want the SIM-eject rod, look at a separate tool.
- Some bits are duplicates under different labels. A few of the 49 slots appear to be the same shape in slightly different sizes (T2 vs T3, 0.7 vs 0.9). That is fine, but if you expect every one of 49 slots to be a unique bit profile, you will be slightly off.
- Case sits flat — no kickstand. Some competing kits ship a case that doubles as a small stand for the handle so you can rest the screwdriver between work sessions. The SHARDEN case is just a flat case.
Who it is for, who should skip it
This is the right screwdriver set for anyone who occasionally has to open a phone, a laptop, a game console, a watch, glasses, or a 3D printer and does not want to think about which bit they need. It is also a starter kit for anyone who is just getting into electronics repair. The set covers enough of the awkward screw profiles that you will not get a chase-a-Torx moment partway through a teardown.
Skip it if you already own a precision screwdriver set with at least the same bit envelope and you are happy with it — there is no reason to replace a kit that works. Skip it if you only ever use PH2 sizes for big household work — this is for the small stuff. Skip it if you need long-reach bits for industrial work — this is a consumer-grade kit.
Verdict
After six months, the SHARDEN precision screwdriver set is the kind of tool that sits in a drawer and earns its place by being there when I need it. I do not use it every week. When I do use it, it has the bit. The 49-bit envelope is the right size for the consumer-electronics teardown universe, the magnetic chuck is convenient, and the case still works. At the price, there is no reason to own a 25-bit kit instead of a 49-bit kit — the marginal cost of having every weird bit when you need it is small.
Grade: A. Easy buy if you do any kind of small-electronics work.
